1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The Seasonal Weed Control Sprayer will work independently or in conjunction with the County Weed Control Officer for the control of noxious and invasive weeds.
• Operate pickup with mounted sprayer while applying chemicals to specific weeds • Operate 4-wheeler or UTV with mounted sprayer in rough terrain while applying chemicals • Record spray application location on a map and in GPS unit and keep accurate weather information at time of spray application • Keep accurate record of chemicals used and amounts • Maintain sprayer equipment • Must be able to communicate with landowners
The Seasonal Weed Control Sprayer is supervised by the Weed Control Officer and does not supervise others.
• High School Diploma or equivalent • A valid ND driver’s license and an insurable driving record
• Ability to read and write clearly • Ability to follow directions • Ability to read and follow maps • Must possess a restricted use and right-of-way pesticide license within 2 weeks after being hired. • Frequently works irregular or long schedules, as job requires • Must have vision capable of seeing medium and long distances • Must be able to sit, stand, bend and move about for extended periods • Must be able to use hands, arms, legs, and feet • Must be able to carry and/or pull over 50 lbs. • Must be able to take the jarring affect of riding a 4-wheeler or UTV while spraying in rough terrain
Works with weed control chemicals Regularly works outdoors Regularly works in varying temperature and other weather-related situations May be required to spray from pickup cab entire work day May be required to spray from 4-wheeler or UTV entire work day May be required to spray with backpack sprayer while walking through high weeds or grass
County department heads and supervisors reserve the right to amend the functions assigned this position, either temporarily or permanently, at any time as they determine the best interests of their departments. Further, employees may be assigned other or additional functions to fill-in during the absence of other employees or vacancies in other positions.
