August 1, 2006 Special meeting minutes

     The special meeting of the Ward County Commission was called to order by Chairman Gruenberg at 8:34 a.m. with Commissioners Romine, Watne and Erickson present.  Also present were Auditor/Treasurer Devra Smestad, County Engineer Roger Kluck and State’s Attorney John Van Grinsven.

      Chairman Gruenberg informed the audience that the meeting was to approve a letter of support for the North Central Rural Water Consortium to expand rural water to Foxholm, from Des Lacs to Talbotts Trailer Court, and in the Logan area.

At 8:35 a.m. Comm. Lee arrived.

      Ralph Packulak, Chairman of the North Central Rural Water Consortium, and General Manager of North Prairie Rural Water appeared and gave a brief overview of why the Consortium needed the letter of support.

      Jay Johnson a farmer near Des Lacs, and one other member of the public, appeared and commented in support of the project expansion.

      Moved by Comm. Watne, seconded by Comm. Romine to approve and authorize the    Chairman’s signature on a letter of support for the North Prairie Rural Water Consortium’s planned expansion to Foxholm, from Des Lacs to Talbotts Trailer Court, and in the Logan area and to thank Ralph Packulak for all his work in bringing water to the rural areas of Ward County. Roll call: all voted yes; motion carried.

     Chairman Gruenberg closed the special meeting at 8:46 a.m.
