March 1, 2007 Special meeting minutes

     A special meeting of the Ward County Commissioners to continue discussion on the county space needs was called to order by Chairman Watne at 9:05 a.m. with Comm. Erickson present. Comms. Gruenberg, Lee adn Fjeldahl were absent. Also present were State's Attorney John Van Grinsven and Auditor/Treasurer Devra Smestad.
     Comm. Watne reviewed the information from the February 20 meeting, explaining that there were five buildings available for purchase and three were eliminated due to lack of parking. Cenex General Manager Art Perdue informed Commissioner Watne that he is having Bruce Bible do an appraisal of the downtown Cenex property and will contact her as soon as he has the information. At that time, the commissioners will review the information on that property.
     Comm. Watne also stated that she is receiving many phone calls about the space needs and building. Some of the comments are: the propsed building was too large, scale it down; do not scatter county offices around town; do not do anything helf-way - plan for the future; the county has a perfect lot to build north of the courthouse. She also had a handout about several comments and recommendations for the Oppen building to share with the Commissioners.
     Having no quorum, Chairman Watne adjourned the meetnig at 9:13 a.m.
