January 27, 2009 Special Meeting Minutes

A special meeting of the Ward County Board of Commissioners was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Christianson with Comms. Fjeldahl, Erickson and Nybakken present. Also present were Auditor/Treasurer Devra Smestad; Engineer Dana Larsen and Emergency Manager Al Reynolds.

 

The purpose of the meeting was to ratify a county-wide snow emergency as declared by Chairman Christianson on January 23, 2009; to review applications for the advisory committee and to review proposed guidelines for said committee.

 

Reynolds and Larsen appeared to update the Board on snow removal efforts in the County and funding efforts from the State and Federal governments. It was then moved by Comm. Erickson, seconded by Comm. Nybakken to ratify and extend the snow emergency declaration. Roll call vote: all present voted yes; motion carried.

 

The Board then discussed interviewing the applicants for the Local Advisory Study committee. Board consensus was to interview all eight applicants beginning at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday February 3, with the interviews lasting 15 minutes each; and appointing the members at approximately 3:30 p.m. that day once interviews are complete. Chairman Christianson requested that if anyone had suggestions for interview questions that they contact him via email and that any questions and guidelines for the committee be reviewed and finalized at the February 3 regular meeting.

 

At 9:39 a.m. with no further business it was moved by Comm. Erickson, seconded by Comm. Nybakken to adjourn. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
