July 7, 2009 Board of Equalization meeting minutes

The meeting of the Ward County Board of Equalization was called to order by Chairman Christianson at 10:02 a.m. with Comms. Fjeldahl, Gruenberg, Erickson and Nybakken present. Also present was Auditor/Treasurer Devra Smestad; Director of Tax Equalization Mike Vendsel; and Minot City Assessor Kevin Ternes.

 

Vendsel appeared to review the Ward County property assessments that had been appealed at the previous County Board of Equalization meeting.

 

With Douglas Amundson appearing it was moved by Comm. Fjeldahl, seconded by Comm. Gruenberg to set a new pole type building at $10,000. Roll call vote: Comms. Fjeldahl and Gruenberg voted yes; Comms. Erickson, Nybakken and Christianson voted no; motion failed.

 

Surrey Township Assessor Rod Kaylor appeared regarding the Swenson & Sons, LLP property in Surrey Township.

 

Ternes then appeared to review the Minot City property assessments that had been appealed at the previous County Board of Equalization meeting.

 

With Terry Davidson, owner of the Pour Farm appearing it was moved by Comm. Fjeldahl, seconded by Comm. Gruenberg to set the commercial land value of the property located at 201 37^th Ave SW, Minot at $7.00 per square foot. An amended motion was moved by Comm. Nybakken, seconded by Comm. Erickson to set the commercial land value at $7.40 per square foot. Roll call vote on the amended motion: all voted yes, except Comm. Fjeldahl who voted no; amended motion carried.

 

At 10:46 a.m. Chairman Christianson closed the hearing.

 

It was then moved by Comm. Erickson, seconded by Comm. Nybakken to adopt a resolution approving the 2009 assessments. Roll call: all voted yes, except Comm. Fjeldahl who voted no; motion carried.
