August 10, 2010 Special meeting minutesMinutes of the Board of Ward County Commissioners
Special Meeting
August 10, 2010
A special meeting of the Ward County Commission was called to order by Chairman Christianson at 9:12 a.m. with Comms. Gruenberg, Erickson & Nybakken present. Also present were Don Davidson of DLA Architects and Byron Lindbo and Joe Vanest of River of Life Church.
Davidson presented the Board with an initial design plan of Ward County offices, occupying the second and third floors of the Trinity-St. Joseph’s building. He stated most of Ward County’s spatial needs would fit into these two floors. The proposed arrangement would allow for 45,693 square feet of office space, with the possibility of future expansion to the fourth floor.
Davidson noted Social Services would occupy one entire floor, with the smaller offices placed into areas that would not require as much remodeling. He expressed privacy and security concerns for Social Services, stating the footprint of the building does not easily allow for the creation of private office suites. Chairman Christianson inquired if there was an east-west access on the south side of the building on the 3rd floor. Davidson said he would investigate a possible employee route.
Smestad shared her research regarding economic development recovery bonds. Comm. Gruenberg presented the idea of forming a citizen’s committee to generate interest. Comm. Fjeldahl entered the meeting at 9:52 a.m. Chairman Christianson stated the Board would evaluate the buildings during the August 17th Commissioners’ Meeting.
At 9:55 a.m, with no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
ACCEPTED AND APPROVED THIS 17TH DAY OF AUGUST, 2010.
s/ Bruce I Christianson
