Joint Board of Ward, Burke Renville and Mountrail County Commissioners

Special Meeting January 13, 2010

 

The special meeting of the Joint Board of Ward, Burke, Renville and Mountrail County Commissioners was called to order by Ward County Auditor/Treasurer Devra Smestad at 7:40 pm. Present were Comms. Allen Ryberg and Terry Nelson (Burke Co.); Rick Cameron (Renville Co.); Jack Nybakken, Carroll Erickson and John Fjeldahl (Ward Co.); David J. Hynek and  Greg Boschee (Mountrail Co.).  The purpose of the meeting was to complete the organization of the Kenmare Rural Fire Protection District.

 

Comm. Cameron was nominated for chairman, Comm. Hynek moved, Comm. Nelson seconded nominations cease and a unanimous vote be cast for Comm. Cameron. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Auditor/Treasurer Smestad was nominated as secretary. Comm. Boschee moved, Comm. Erickson seconded nominations cease and a unanimous vote be cast for A/T Smestad. Motion carried unanimously.

 

It was moved by Comm. Nelson, seconded by Comm. Erickson and carried that the organization of the Kenmare Rural Fire Protection District be completed.

 

Since the fire department has been organized as a rural fire department for many years, the decision was made to keep the current fourteen directors (one from each township in the district) in place with the same staggering terms. They are Greg Ankenbauer, Bruce Ankenbauer, Lowell Nelson, Gene Duerre, Otto Folkors, David O’Neil, Miles Gustavson, Thomas Pullen, Tom Herman, Greg Christianson, Mervin Gustavson, Curtis Peterson, George Willgrubs, and David Peterson.

 

Tom Pullen nominated Bruce Ankenbauer for temporary President of the newly established Fire Protection District. Hearing no other nominations, Tom Pullen moved nominations cease, Jim Derry seconded and motion carried unanimously.  The commissioners adjourned and turned the meeting over to Temporary President Ankenbauer at 7:55 pm.

 

Bruce Ankenbauer called the directors meeting to order. Officers elected were Bruce Ankenbauer, President; Lowell Nelson, Vice President; and Amy Wheeling, Secretary/Treasurer. Annual meetings will be held the 4th Monday of March.
