April 12, 2011 Farm to Market Meeting SummaryMeeting Summary – Farm to Market Road Program
April 12, 2011
At 7:30 p.m. the Farm to Market hearing was opened by Chairman Gruenberg, with Comms. Fjeldahl, Christianson, Erickson and Nybakken present. Also present were County Engineer Dana Larsen, Road Supervisor Rick Melchert, and Deputy States Attorney Robert Slorby.
Dana Larsen briefly explained the current year’s projects and the projects scheduled for the next five years.
Brenda Vollmer, of Norwich, appeared to ask about plans to pave County Road 23 from US Hwy 2 to Sawyer. Dana said that the current road does not qualify for paving and would have to be re-graded and re-built to qualify. Unfortunately, at this time, there is not enough funding to do this magnitude of a project at this time.
Carolyn Stair from Afton Township appeared to discuss the 54th Ave to County Rd 14. Dana stated that because this is not a County Road, that it needs to be dealt with at the Township level.
Ron Neshem appeared to discuss County Road 18. Dana stated that this section of road does not qualify under the Farm to Market but may qualify under FEMA. He advised Mr. Neshem to bring this concern before the Highway Committee.
At 8:13 p.m. the hearing was closed.
