August 5, 2011 Special Commission Meeting

Minutes of the Board of Ward County Commissioners

August 5, 2011

 

      The special meeting of the Ward County Commission was called to order by Chairman Gruenberg at 8:30 a.m. with Comms. Fjeldahl, Erickson, Christianson and Nybakken present.  Also present was Highway Engineer Dana Larsen, States Attorney Roza Larson, and Auditor/Treasurer Devra Smestad.

 

      The Commission interviewed three applicants for the Ward County Emergency Manager position. The interview scoring sheets were tallied and rated as followed: Amanda Schooling – 6, Mike Engle – 11, and Gary Crowdus - 13. Moved by Comm. Fjeldahl, seconded by Comm. Nybakken to offer the Emergency Manager position to Amanda Schooling. Roll call: all voted yes; motion carried.

 

      Extension Agent Lori Scharmer appeared. Moved by Comm. Nybakken, seconded by Comm. Christianson to approve the proposal for temporary support staff for approximately 200 hours at $15 an hour. Roll call: all voted yes; motion carried.

 

      Highway Engineer Dana Larsen appeared. Larsen presented a draft of a Resolution for the North Dakota Water Commission sponsorship of the Mouse River/Souris River Flood Control efforts. Comm. Christianson stated the correct agency name is North Dakota State Water Commission. Moved by Comm. Fjeldahl, seconded by Comm. Nybakken to adopt Resolution 3-2011 with the insertion of State in the agency title. Roll call: all voted yes; motion carried.

 

      Comm. Christianson would like to thank Renville County for the financial contribution made to the recovery fund.

       

      At 11:06 a.m., with no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
