Minutes of the Board of Ward County Commissioners

February 3, 2011

 

The special meeting of the Ward County Commissioner was called to order by Chairman Gruenberg at 9:00 a.m. with Comms. Fjeldahl, Christianson, Erickson, and Nybakken present to discuss building space needs.  Also present were Assistant States Attorney Robert Slorby, Architect Don Davidson and Auditor/Treasurer Devra Smestad.

 

  Comm. Gruenberg reviewed the material provided by Kari Heringer for Attendant Care.  The space currently provided for this program is located in the Ward Co. Public Library building.

 

Comm. Christianson updated the Commission on the Morgan Printing and Minot Daily News buildings. He said that he hopes that in the next couple of weeks he would have some more concrete answers. He also inquired about the alley north of the Courthouse being vacated. Architect Davison will research this and also check with MDU about the utility building.

 

Comm. Erickson asked Building Supervisor, Ron Overly in what condition the existing library building is in. Ron will provide a list of the needed repairs to the building for the next meeting.

 

Assistant States Attorney Robert Slorby reported on the answer from the Attorney General. Comm. Christianson requested a copy of States Attorney Roza Larson’s letter to the Attorney General be provided to all of the Commissioners.

 

Comm. Christianson stated that he believe the Commissioners need to review the financial options available to Ward County. He stated that a financial consultant should be considered.  He requested that at the next commissioner meeting a few consultant groups do presentations so that a consultant could be selected.

 

Comm. Gruenberg asked that all of the commissioners provide the names or committees they are nominating for our citizen committee. They are to provide these names to Devra for disbursement at the February 15^th meeting.

 

Comm. Christianson stated that the Commissioners need to set up guidelines for this committee. The committee should consist of about 15 total members. This committee will be selected at the next Building Space Needs meeting on February 17^th at 9:00 a.m.

 

At 9:58 a.m., with no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
