Meeting Summary – Farm to Market Road Program

May 24, 2012

 

At 6:01 p.m. the Farm to Market hearing was opened by Chairman Fjeldahl, with Comms. Gruenberg, Christianson, Erickson and Nybakken present.  Also present were County Engineer Dana Larsen and Assistant County Engineer Travis Schmit.

 

Dana Larsen briefly explained the current year’s projects and the projects scheduled for the next five years. 

 

At 6:30 p.m. the meeting was opened for public comment.

 

Harold and Elayne Wald, of Norwich, appeared to ask about plans to pave County Road 23 from US Hwy 2 to Sawyer. Dana stated that there is a moratorium on any new paving projects. He also understands that there has been an increase in truck traffic due to the new elevator opening and the possible increase due to Volter opening. There are plans to add more gravel to the road.

 

      Moved by Comm. Gruenberg, seconded by Comm. Erickson to close the public input of the meeting. Roll call: all voted yes; motion carried.

 

The Commissioners asked question to Larsen on why he believed that the meetings are so poorly attended.

 

At 7:03 p.m. the hearing was closed.
