Special Meeting with the Citizen Committee

November 28, 2012

 

      The special meeting of the Ward County Commission with the Citizens Committee was called to order by Chairman Fjeldahl at 9:00 a.m. with Comms. Gruenberg, Christianson, Erickson, and Nybakken present.  Also present was Auditor/Treasurer Devra Smestad and Architect Don Davison.

      The Commission gave a special thank you to the Citizens Committee for their support and promotion of the building project prior to the election and asked if anyone would like to continue as a committee as we move forward with the building.  Everyone was content with the way procedures have been done.

      Discussion was brought forth concerning parking and where to stage construction equipment and materials during construction of the new office building, jail and courthouse remodeling.  The Minot Daily News will be contacted as well as the CP Rail in regards to this matter.  Comm. Nybakken requested the west lot be striped and receive a total number of parking spaces allowed within the lot.  The Commission also requested a conference call to the Governor’s office to request assistance with the projects through his budget and possibly work with our local legislators for their support.

      Architect, Don Davison appeared concerning the construction and finance agreement of the new building, jail and courthouse remodel.   Davison stated once the scope of the project is defined, the compensation percentage for architectural services of the estimated values would be set.  Currently, he is estimating 8-9% depending on the project.  The Bond Council will be approached as well as finance consultants before the next regular Commission Meeting set for December 4, 2012.
