Souris Valley Flood Recovery Resources
Checklist for Flood Recovery Resources ____ Raft Case Management - coordinates the needs of flood survivors to provide needed resources. Contact Faith United Methodist Church 701-838-1540. Through Case Managers survivors can access resource such as: - Hope Village volunteers assist flood survivors in clean-up, repair, and rebuilding of their homes. www.hopevillagend.org - Recovery Warehouse – can provide some materials for rebuilding flooded homes. ____ Rebuild and Retain Grant – Grant funds appropriated by the ND Legislature for homeowners ( stick, modular, and mobile) who are rebuilding their homes. Flood Survivors may apply using an application provided on the Souris Valley United Way website www.svunitedway.com Income guidelines apply. Deadline is April 1, 2013. Contact: 701-838-1338
____ Minot Area Flood Recovery Fund – through the Minot Area Community Foundation flooded homeowners may be eligible for up to $2085 for flooded homeowners (stick, modular, and mobile). You must have receipts to present for reimbursement. No income requirement. Contact: 701-852-0646 http://centerforcommunitygiving.com/flood/ ____ Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) – The City of Minot was awarded federal funds to assist in disaster recovery efforts. A large portion of these funds will go toward rehabbing and reconstructing flood-damaged properties. Income guidelines apply. 4 April 2013 Hope Village is holding a fund-raiser with Taco John’s on 13 April 2013 to support flood recovery in Minot. the three Taco John’s restaurants in Minot will donate 100% of their proceeds from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to Hope Village. a) LISTEN, LEARN & SPEAK OUT: March 25th 6:30PM-8:30PM Minot Comfort Inn Town Hall Meeting Room 3rd Floor, A public forum about mental health issues and needs for the Minot community. b) ICS 400: Advanced ICS for Command and General Staff course: March 28th-29th Minot Rural Fire Dept c) Basic Public Information Officer Course (PIO): April 2nd-4th, Minot Rural Fire Dept d) Big One Craft Fair: April 5th-6th ND State Fair Center e) March for Babies: April 6th 9AM, MSU Dome f) Minot Rural Fire Department Pancake Breakfast: April 7th 7AM-1PM, 400 31st Ave SW Meet the firefighters and eat breakfast to support the department with a free will offering. There will be door prizes. g) Domestic Violence Crisis Center: Walk A Mile in Her Shoes: April 13th 11AM at Dakota Square Mall

a) Hope Village Update (1) April 6th, groups or individuals needed to help put the camp back into operations (2) April 13th, operations start date (3) First week, 85poeple from around the country slated to help; looking for more local groups (4) Rumors: Hope Village is not officially closing in October; that is the date they are aiming towards, but nothing is confirmed b) LDR
(1) 4,111 volunteers YTD (2) 124,872 donated work hours (3) $2,184,00.00 worth of work hours donated c) Home Retention Grant (1) Still taking applications
(2) Closing date was April 1st, but there is now more money, so the new closing date will be determined (3) Some state funds will be extended by the legislative committee, so there may be more funds out to help on projects d) FEMA Housing Numbers (1) 75 temporary housing units sold (2) Two-thirds of appeals for rent have been processed; people need to turn in their documentation (3) Petitions for sales are working on the ones mostly located on private sites (4) 395 households in temporary housing units; 230 renters; 165 homeowners e) RAFT:
(1) 1,963 cases as of March 14th (2) New phase to help with spiritual and emotional wellbeing to begin soon f) Recovery Discussion: (1) Ward County
(a) House auctions are slated to begin around mid-April for about three weeks. (b) Unsold houses can be salvaged by organizations; make sure you get your group on the list through Amanda Schooling: amanda.schooling@wardnd.com (c) Spring Flood Discussion (i) Discussions are ongoing with the current snowfall. As of right now the probability is low. (ii) The North Dakota State Fair grounds are being looked at for a sandbagging operations 1. This will be an outdoor activity. 2.
