Please be advised that most of the roads in Ward County are 80,000 lb. (40 ton) maximum load, with the exception of some roads that have been upgraded to 105,500lb maximum loads. Ward County roads are posted with both 80,000 lb. and 105,500 lb. signs and are show on the map bellow. Overload permits are available for non-divisible loads, and the permits are found below. Please note that the Uniform Truck Permit available from the ND Association of Oil and Gas Producing Counties is only valid on non-restricted roads and must have a validation number. Any road that is posted as an 8 Ton per Axle or less or those shown as 80,000 lb. (40 ton) maximum load restriction will need an oversized permit from Ward County Highway Department.
NOTICE - 2013 LOAD RESTRICTIONS
Seasonal Highway Load Restrictions on all Ward County Highways will go into effect at 7:00 a.m., Wednesday. April 3, 2013 and will be enforced by local and state agencies.
All county highways (paved and gravel) shall have a seven (7) ton restriction. (unless otherwise posted)
Maximum gross weight not to exceed 80,000 lbs.
Maximum: 14,000 Lbs/Axle
Maximum: 28,000 Lbs/Tandem Axle
Maximum: 36,000 Lbs/Group of three (3) or more axles
Maximum: 80,000 Lbs Gross
The following county roads shall have an six (6) ton restriction
Maximum gross weight not to exceed 80,000 lbs.
CR 8 - from CR 19 East to CR 23
CR 2 - In the city limits of Kenmare
Maximum: 12,000 lbs/Axle
Maximum: 24,000 lbs/Tandem Axle
Maximum: 30,000 lbs/Groups of three (3) or more axles
Maximum: 80,000 lbs Gross
The following county roads shall have an eight (8) ton restriction
Maximum gross weight not to exceed 80,000 lbs.
CR 10 - from CR 9A East to U.S. Highway 2/52
CR 10A- from CR 10 North to Burlington City Limits
CR 23 - from U.S. Highway 52 South to State Highway 23
* Maximum gross weight not to exceed 105,500 lbs.
CR 9 - from US Highway 2 South to State Highway 23
CR 23 - from1/2 mile North of U.S. Highway 2 North to the County Line
Maximum: 16,000 Lbs/Axle
Maximum: 32,000 Lbs/Tandem Axle
Maximum: 42,000 Lbs/Groups of three (3) or more axles
Maximum: 80,000 Lbs Gross
*Maximum: 105,500 Lbs/Gross
The following county roads shall be restricted by the legal weight.
* Maximum gross weight not to exceed 105,500 lbs.
CR 10A - from U.S. Highway 83 East 4 miles and South 3 miles to CR 12
CR 12 - from CR 19 to East to the city limits of Surrey
CR 9A - from U.S. Highway 2 South to CR 10
CR 10 - from CR 9A West ½ mile
CR 23 - from U.S. Highway 2 North ½ mile
Maximum: 20,000 Lbs/Axle
Maximum: 34,000 Lbs/Tandem Axle
Maximum: 48,000 Lbs/Groups of three (3) or more axles
*Maximum: 105,000 Lbs/Gross
