April 21, 2011 Special Meeting MinutesMinutes of the Ward County Park Board
April 21, 2011
The special meeting of the Ward County Park Board was called to order by Chairman Ken Kitzman at 9:01 a.m. with the following members present: John Fjeldahl, Bruce Christianson, Carroll Erickson, Jerome Gruenberg, Jack Nybakken, and James Muzzy. Also present was Deputy States Attorney Robert Slorby, Park Manager Steve Fuegmann and Secretary Nicole Shaw.
Chairman Kitzman presented the potential hazards at Rice Lake. With the rising water and the hidden hazards now located just under the water surface, the Rice Lake Association has asked the Park Board to temporarily close the boat ramp.
Moved by Mr. Christianson, seconded by Mr. Erickson to close the public boat ramp on Rice Lake temporarily. Roll call: all voted yes; motion carried.
Micheal Braun appeared. He asked the Board who has the authority to enforce no motorized crafts on the lake. Deputy Sates Attorney Robert Slorby said he would have to research that and get back to the Board. Mr. Christianson stated he believe that authority lies with the State Water Commission.
Mr. Christianson suggested that either Steve Fuegmann or Sheriff Steve Kukowski call the Bottineau County Sheriff to see how they handled a similar situation at Lake Metigoshe.
At 9:14a.m., with no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
ACCEPTED AND APPROVED THIS 3rd DAY OF MAY, 2011.
s/Ken Kitzman
Chairman, Ward County Park Board
