Minutes of the Ward County Park Board

May 17, 2011

The meeting of the Ward County Park Board was called to order by Chairman Ken Kitzman at 8:45 a.m. with the following members present: John Fjeldahl, Jerome Gruenberg, Carroll Erickson, and Jack Nybakken. Also present was Highway Engineer Dana Larsen, Park Manager Steve Fuegmann and Secretary Nicole Shaw.

 

Park Manager Steve Fuegmann presented the Board with an updated Resolution for Rules and Regulations for the Ward County Parks. The Resolution was updated to clarify the 14 day camping rule.

Mr. Gruenberg, Mr. Fjeldahl, and Mr. Kitzman all stated concerns with the wording of Section 2(f) “There shall not be permitted in the Ward County Parks and Recreation Areas under the jurisdiction of the Ward County Park Board, the careless or negligent lighting of any fire or the willful, careless or negligent act which causes or may be likely to cause damage by fire to anything growing or being thereon.” Moved by Mr. Gruenberg, seconded by Mr. Fjeldahl to approve the resolution as presented. Roll call vote: all voted yes; motion carried.

 

            Moved by Mr. Nybakken, seconded by Mr. Erickson to amend the approved resolution by adding the statement “Fires shall be permitted only in designated grills or fire pits provided” to the end of Section 2(f). Roll call vote: all voted yes; motion carried.

 

At 8:53 a.m., with no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
