Investigations

The Investigations Division is primarily responsible for conducting investigations of felony and non-traffic misdemeanor cases. The investigations division is under the command of Captain Bob Barnard. There are 5 deputies assigned as investigators in the division; one Lieutenant, two Sergeants, and two Deputies. The investigators are assigned a variety of criminal cases in the areas of crimes against persons or crimes against property. One investigator is designated to research and serve criminal warrants as well as work criminal cases assigned for follow-up. The investigators primarily work 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Two investigators from this division are assigned to the Ward County Narcotics Task Force and work primarily drug related cases. The Ward County Narcotics Task Force is comprised of officers from the Ward County Sheriff’s Department, Minot Police Department, the North Dakota National Guard, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and it is managed by the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
