Jail

The Ward County Jail Staff is charged with the care, custody and control of individuals brought into the facility for criminal, civil and/or mental health proceedings. 

Jail Commander Penny Erickson supervises a crew of 20 full time correctional officers and between five to nine part time correctional officers.  These staff members are split into four crews, each working 12 hours shifts.  There seem to be new challenges daily for the staff at the jail and by working together as a team, our staff continues to rise to the challenge.  The jail population, although fluctuating, continues to be high and the workload for our officers continues to grow.
