Staff

The Investigations Division is under the command of Lieutenant Dale Clemens. There are eight additional law enforcement personnel assigned to this division: one sergeants and seven deputies. The investigators primarily work 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday however there is always an investigator on call for any after-hours incidents. View the staff directory.

Responsibilities

The Investigations Division is primarily responsible for conducting investigations of felony and non-traffic misdemeanor cases.  The investigators are assigned a variety of criminal cases in the areas of crimes against persons or crimes against property. This division also researches and serves criminal warrants as well as coordinates transports of prisoners to various facilities throughout the state.

Assignments

  • One sergeant and two deputies are solely assigned to investigate felony and misdemeanor crimes against people and property.
  • One deputy is assigned solely to serve criminal warrants and conduct out-of-state extraditions when other jurisdictions arrest on our warrants.
  • Two deputies are assigned to coordinate transports of prisoners throughout the state.
  • Two deputies are assigned to the Ward County Narcotics Task Force. The Ward County Narcotics Task Force is comprised of law enforcement personnel from Ward County Sheriff’s Department, Minot Police Department, United States Border Patrol, North Dakota Army National Guard, and Bureau of Criminal Investigations. It is managed by the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
