Tax Equalization

Our staff is committed to maintaining, understanding, and implementing nationally accepted mass appraisal practice throughout the Ward County Region. We follow the guidance of the North Dakota Tax Commissioner’s Office as well as the North Dakota Century Code. Our goal is to create transparency and provide uniformity through fair and equitable assessments, which in turn will provide a just tax base to our citizens.

The Tax Equalization Office is tasked with the fair and equitable assessment of all property within city limits for property tax purposes, per the North Dakota State Tax Department. It is also this department's responsibility to compile records regarding real estate transactions, new construction, remodels or alterations, as well as administer a variety of property tax exemption and credit programs instituted by the North Dakota State Legislature.
