Victim
         
A natural person who has suffered direct or threatened physical, financial, or emotional harm where there is probable cause to believe that the harm has been caused by the commission of a criminal act.

Witness
          
Any person who has been or is expected to be summoned to testify for the prosecution.

Restitution
           Reasonable compensation for loss, injury or out of pocket expenses as a result of a crime.  Estimates, invoices, statements or receipts can be mailed, emailed or dropped off at our office.  Be sure to include your contact information and also case name or number with submission of any documentation.  Restitution Claim Form

 North Dakota Statewide Automated Victim Information & Notification (ND SAVIN)
Access to offender's custody, probation, parole, court, sex offender, or protection/restraining order status over the phone or internet. Choose the most convenient method to be registered by phone, email or text messaging to receive automatic updates.  ND SAVIN is a beneficial and confidential service.  When signing up to receive information it is suggested to sign up following the offender's jail appearance at the end of business day. Toll Free: 1-866-631-8463  
     
  North Dakota Crime Victims Compensation (CVC)
CVC provides monetary compensation to victims of criminal attacks who suffer bodily injury.  Victims may be eligible for payments of medical expenses, lost wages, and mental health counseling.  Defendants of deceased victims may also be eligible for certain benefits, including funeral expenses.  This fund is a secondary source to insurance, assistance, or other benefits.  To receive an application or questions, please contact Ward County Victim | Witness Coordinator at 701-857-6480 or compensation program administrator at 701-328-6195 or 1-800-445-2322 (in state only).  CVC Application Online
