POLICY: The Ward County Jail (WCJ) mandates a zero tolerance policy toward all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment. Policies dealing with sexual abuse and sexual harassment enforced by WCJ shall be based on the PREA Standards. It is the intention of the WCJ to prevent, detect, and respond to sexual abuse and sexual harassment. Every allegation of sexual abuse and sexual harassment shall be administratively investigated by the WCJ. Allegations that appear to involve criminal behavior, as determined by a preponderance of the evidence, shall be criminally investigated by the Ward County Sheriff’s Office or the BCI-Minot Office. These policies apply to inmates and staff.
The Ward County Jai will accept third-party reports of sexual abuse and sexual harassment of inmates.
To report sexual abuse and sexual harassment on behalf of a resident of the WCJ you may write or call the Sheriff, Jail Commander or PREA Coordinator.
